First Blog Task

 1) Why did you choose A Level Media Studies? I chose A Level Media Because I find it interesting and unique. 

2) Did you take GCSE Media Studies (either here at Greenford or a different school)? I took Media here (Greenford).

3) If you answered yes to Q2, what grade did you achieve in GCSE Media? What coursework task did you complete? What would you say your strengths and weaknesses were in GCSE Media?

 I achieved a grade 6 the coursework I did was a music video which achieved a grade 7 my strength in media is editing directing and using media terminology in my writing my weakness is not understanding the CSP in depth.  

4) What grade do you hope to achieve in A Level Media? A**

5) What are your current thoughts about your next steps after A Levels - university, apprenticeship, work? I'm still unsure 

6) What do you think the biggest MEDIA story of 2023 has been and why? Queen Elizabeth II passing this is the biggest Media story as Britain's Queened died after being on the throne for 70 years.  

7) What media sources do you use to find out about news and current affairs? The Daily Mirror and BBC news to get all the important updates in the world. 

8) What was the last film you watched? Memento on Netflix. 

9) What is your favourite ever TV series? The Walking Dead.

10) How many hours do you spend online in an average day? Is this too little, too much or about right? Why? (If you have an iPhone you can use Screen Time to get an accurate figure of how much you use your phone).

I spend around 5 hours on my phone I believe it is too much as I should be engaging to the outside world more.

Semiotics

  1) What meanings are the audience encouraged to take about the two main characters from the opening of the film? That the two character were not well educated and homeless with nothing to do and were violent. They both also were typical dismissive teenagers. 2) How does the end of the film emphasise de Saussure’s belief that signs are polysemic – open to interpretation or more than one meaning? It Subverts the dominate ideology as the guy helps the homeless old man and gives him bananas and they do not engage into physical violence with other people and they both have knowledge of political figures as teenagers which suggest that they may be educated. Introduction to Feminism

  1) Why did Laura Bates start the Everyday Sexism project? She experienced sexism in public and no one did anything as it was seemed as normal she wanted to go against that and fight that claim as it wasn't normal and it shouldn't happen therefore starting the campaign which allows it to subvert the normalisation of everyday sexism  2) How does the Everyday Sexism project link to the concept of post-feminism? Is feminism still required in western societies? Yes because women shouldn't be treated like this they should feel safe and they should know that experiencing sexism isn't normal it is terrible.
